--- i already posted this in the acid 5.0 thread, but since i love this idea so much im gonna post it once more here...sorry :) „PHOTOSHOP“ FADES playin around with photoshop i got the idea for a wicked xfade tool: lemme illustrate: in photoshop you can mix two pictures, but you can determine HOW it does it...for example...just layer one picture over the other...or use only the parts with light shades from picture A to bleed thru to picture B....lets say you got one picture of a landscape with a blue sky ...and on a layer beneath it you got a picture of a night sky with a full moon --- now if you blend the two pictures only the moon would bleed thru since it is lighter in shade than the blue sky...the darker night sky would not blend into picture B since it is darker in shade than the blue sky in picture A aight...now how would this work for audio ... lets say you got a drumloop on track 1 and another drum loop on track 2 ... if you choose a sorta „hipass“ fade only the cymbals (hi frequencies) from loop 2 would be audible...but the whole loop on track 1... you could have all sorts of routines for this tool....hi pass fades, lo pass fades, multiplication fades... (where the frequencies are multiplied ) and so on if you would combine it with the paint tool ... it would be possible to only crossfade/blend tracks for a number of beats as specified in the grid... possibly (sorta like in photoshop too) you could specify a fade time before n after the xfade (so the fades could vary in harshness...) i know that these things are possibly right now too, but this tool would make them way easier.... i think this would be an awesome feature to have if anyone knows if theres a utilty that does this please lemme know ... thanks |

You can do tasks like that with Sound Forge. For example, you can you apply a high-pass filter like you'd want on one file, then mix it with the other file in any way that you desire. (You can simply mix or crossfade the two together as an example.) Of course, you'd have to commit changes in Sound Forge itself; you cannot change what's been done later on. (Unless you use a certain forthcoming version. *cough cough*) HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

yeah well i know that i can do that...i wrote that in my post ... you can do it in acid too...duplicate track, use filtering on the duplicated track and then erase to taste... but i think it would be really neat to have a dedicated tool which would let you do it with one click, ya know... well maybe its too special a request :) |

You could create your own custom plug-in chain (with either ACID or Sound Forge) from which to call up again when wanted. Then again, any degree of effect would have to be decided by the user. Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |
