So I was walking around at Best Buy yesterday and noticed that Sony Screenblast ACID 4.0 is going for $ 69.95. Right next to it on the shelf is the Sonic Foundry Version of ACID Pro 4.0 going for $199. What gives? Are they the same product in different boxes? Anyone know?

Screenblast Acid 4 can't be used commercialy (in the EULA). Acid Pro can. So, if you want to sell anything that you will product, you need Pro. On a plaus note, someone pointed out a deal to me today: Acid Pro 4 and Sound Forge Studio 6 for $150. Great deal!

In addition to what Friar mentioned, in no small way can Screenblast compare to ACID Pro.

The only advantage Screenblast has right now is the ability to export to Flash. ACID Pro owns in all other cases.

(Love that spiffy new green box ACID Pro 4.0 comes in, BTW.)

Sony Screenblast ACID 4.0 is very similar to ACID Music 3.0 in functionality and features, with a few Sony-specific additions. It will not have most of the features of ACID Pro 3.0, and none of the features added in ACID Pro 4.0.

If you can get Aicd Music 3, get that one instead. Since is EULA allows you to use it for profit, it's worth more then Screenblast. But, if you find it you'll have to snatch it up asap. noone is getting new copies. so when it's gone it's gone. Also, check out that deal. Screenblast includes a copy of Screenblsat Sound Forge 1, but you can't save WAV files and can't customize any effects/processes, so it isn't much use for sound editing/tweeking.

That is a great deal. I recently bought some SF (Sony) loops for use with video and have been playing with the free Acid. I just jumped on this deal. Of course while I was there I found a USB interface for my XLR mics that I didn't really know I needed <g>.
