Subject:Reducing noise under vocals

I'm wondering if anyone has any hints for removing noise under vocals? I've been able to remove the noise from the pauses in-between vocals, but as soon as the vocals start again the noise starts with it! Help!

If the noise is constant and narrow banded (hum, droning or hiss), Sonic Foundry's Noise Reduction is excellent.

If the noise is variable such as traffic, coughing, sneezing, wind etc. then nothing will work well short of re-recording.
