Hi All, Please Help Me! I have an Audigy sound card and have the most recent ASIO drivers for it. I also have Acid 4e. When I go into Preferences--Audio--AudioDeviceType and choose Creative ASIO and hit Apply, I get the error message, "The Device Creative ASIO does not support the current sample rate or bit depth"...even though the samplerate/bit depth is set at 44.1/16bit which the audigy/asio should handle, yes? I can't believe that i would have to lower the rates down below 44.1/8bits? Another note is that when i hit the advanced configuration button in the same panel...it sayst that the driver is Creative Asio v.2....BUT when i further hit the 'about' button it says sonic foundry asio driver v.1.....can this be the problem? if so how can i change? Argh, this is sooooo frustrating because i've had to use the pathetic "microsoft sound mapper" as my audiodevicedriver and it just sputters and spits all over the place depite my 1.5gb ram/2.1ghz system! Please help!! Thank you in advance! |

the problem is not with the bitrate. if i remember correctly Creative cards are locked at 48.000 Hz if you want to use ASIO. i had a SB Live (which officially doesn't support ASIO but with the right drivers you could use it just fine), and i remember that card only worked at 48.000 Hz. so, if you want to test that out you should change the settings in your sound card panel to 48.000, and the project in ACID should also be set to 48.000. |

The Audigy card does not actually support a 44.1 kHz sample rate. It only supports 48 kHz. Windows resamples all audio streamed to the Audigy to 48 kHz behind the scenes. Since ASIO is not managed by Windows, the drivers only support the actual sample rate of the hardware, this being 48 kHz. To use the Audigy ASIO drivers in ACID , you must set the ACID project to 48 kHz. The difference between the reported versions is that the ASIO driver from Creative is version 2. The ASIO support driver for ACID is Ver 1.0. This is not the cause of your problem. Peter |
