Exception errors when I record -ACID Product Family

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but I keep getting this message whether I record in midi or audio. When I record a track I can hear the play back and read the meters but when I push stop I immediately get an exception error and the acid shuts down or freezes up. I have no idea why this would happen. I use windows xp 1 gig processor Maudio 2496 soundcard with current drivers. I do have acid installed on my other hard drive which is bigger. I had to specify on install to send it there but it will do the same thing on my other hard drive. Has this happend to anyone else? Does anybody have any suggustion on this matter? If so I would very greatful for any suggestions that should come my way.
