why would anyone want a mixer page?

the beauty of sonic foundry software is that its simple but it does just as much as any other program out there, less time clicking and more time making music.

I have tried samplitude 7, and cubase, and although they have some great features, it is admittedly rather annoying to have to flash back and forth from a mixer page to the main screen over and over again.

Why do we have to hold on to this hardware paradigm? If you want control surfaces, it could still work great, with the setup that exists now. and ever better, you could assign the eq YOu want to each track, and midi control that with the hardware.

really, the main screen of Acid , or vegas for that matter, IS the mixer page, and the real advantage is that the edit window is right there. You can resize and put any of these "windows" anywhere, you can even rip off the existing mixer window and throw it onto a second monitor, and it will remember that.

Please don't turn Acid into the cluttered mess most other multitrack programs are!!

I have to disagree with you on this one. I don't know about most people, but when I am in mix down mode that is EXACTLY what I am doing! I have arranged all of my parts and therefore am ready to mix and ONLY mix! As a result it would be nice to have a control surface which is a bit more traditionally laid out so that you can quickly solo or mute tracks as well as maybe having a function in which if you move the mouse over the inserts on your track fx it will show you what is on each track. At present it is very cumbersome to have to expand or minimize each track in order to edit any fx,vol, or pan. Also it would be REALY nice to see an automated mix function by which you can "record" fx,vol, pan "movements and then even see it as an enveleope on each track. Plus it would be nice to be able to drag the tracks around to create a different order just like you can do now in Acid, but it would be nice to be able to do it vertically as well as horizontally(like you can in Acid's present form). My goal would be to lay out ALL of my tracks so that I can see what everything is. Sometimes I am using as many as 64 tracks and having a window in which I could possibly double tier my view would be very helpful. These are just a few of my thoughts for what they are worth. Have a good one. Luces

I wouldn't worry too much about it, Jacose. I highly doubt Sony would radicalize ACID's GUI, merely because that's part of ACID's (and other Sony apps') appeal. There's lots of power there, but only if you go looking for it. (Many still don't know about ACID 4.0's bus track view, for example.)
