Subject:How do you set Levels? -- When I render to WAVs I get Distortion

when I save part of a track or project (that sounds fine and DOESN'T distort), and render it to a wav, sometimes it distorts HORRIBLY because I must have set the volume level too high. ***What's the deal on this? Is there a way to tell what sound level to use before I create all these bad wav's? I notice ACID's volume knobs default to 6... Is that a good volume? And I also noticed that wav's play back much louder than they sound in my project. Weird. |

The volume levels in your Master Volume are what gets rendered. If it registers a clip (numbers above mixer turn red) then it will be distorted. Playback your music and watch for the clip. You can use a volume envelope to turn down the parts that are hot, or turn down the master volume. |

When you playback your tracks, just watch your master mixer. Raise/lower it so it doesn't clip, but maxes out as close to 0 as possible (i usually max out around .8, but someitmes hit 0. :) ) |

make sure your preview level isn't set too high, if it is set too high, when you render your track, It might come out louder than you want it to |
