You need an audio editor that will allow you to save the metadata with the file (like Sound Forge). If you have SF, set the Edit ACID Properties in the Special menu and then save the file with the metadata...then you'll have the key & number of beats, which will allow Acid to "loop" it for you.

Hi
I have had some luck by painting my wave in acid . Get it in time with beat .
Set loop points on beat with grid timing locked. Unlock the timing then zoom in on the wave . Fine tune the starting point . Play back the short looped section only . It is important that the acid drum beat be at the same BPM that the wave was recorded at. Exactly. If at this point you have it where it is in time and loops ok ; solo the wave "instrument". play it and adjust acid master volume. Select "render as" click on looped region only and render it. This leaves me with a loop of my own that can be painted in or moved around. My only problem is I do notknow how to set beatmarkers in my loops to fully acidize them . If i try to change tempo my loops sound funny.

Can any one explain beatmarkers ???? hope this helps

If you want to ACIDize a WAV that hasn't been embedded with such info, one of the easiest ways is to solo the track, set the Loop Region over the area you'd like to bounce down, then use CTRL+M with the "render loop region only" option enabled.

This will add the newly rendered track to your project, complete with overall project key and tempo information added. Your next step is to go into the track properties and under the "Stretch" tab, add/adjust stretch markers to subdivisions of a beat you feel need accenting.

PLEASE NOTE: In order for the sample to become an ACIDized Loop, the sample must be 30 seconds or less by default.

ALSO: Note that for the sample to become a Loop, the sample must be an exact number of whole beats. Otherwise, it will become a Beatmapped track. For example, if you set the Loop Region over 4 1/4 beats, the track will become a Beatmapped track. If it's exactly 4 beats, it becomes a Loop. If it's 5 or 6 beats, it also becomes a Loop.

HTH,
Iacobus
