The Covert Diaspora Vol 4 Bill Laswell will not play in win media player
9.0. (latest) It brings up the dial up network dingus to go online. All the
other Bill Laswell volumes and all other loops play fine, but this one volume doesn't. It does work OK in Acid 4.0E. Win XP pro Hyperthreading. and all
the stuff.

That's because Volume 4 uses 24-bit audio.

Windows Media Player can't play files of this resolution (with some exceptions in the Windows Media 9 Series).

OT - but speaking of Bill Laswell...have any of you noticed that most loops of this library (any of the 4 volumes) have a noticable hiss? Is it just me?

I think I've found a couple that you're talking about.

Covert- Ambient- Orchestral- Bowed Bass 1

Covert- Ambient- Textures- Texture 7

I've seen alot worse from other cheaper loop libraries. That's why I buy SoFo/Sony loop CDs now. There might be a few odd ones in there, but generally they are much better quality than other loop CDs of similar price.

That being said, the hiss from various loops was enough to convince me to purchase SoFo's Noise Reduction plug-in.
If you build projects using mostly/only loops, you owe it to yourself to check out Noise Reduction.

Right on....while Bill is always cool...I was very disappointed by a good portion of these loops (noisewise not music wise) especially after SF went on and on about 24 bit quality etc etc....

In my tunes- some of these really detract from the assembled recording....it's easy to fix but I have kind of just put this library away since I couldn't deal with the noise...I may have to check the Noise Reduction plug tho...
