Subject:Finding out Midi CC of Softsynths ?

hi,
i use ACID4 mainly with freeware softsynths and as they're not documented very well i'm looking for a way how to find out if/how/on which channels a VSTi is receiving CC messages.
Are there any particular methods to finding this out ?

regards,
plastique

PS: btw , has the DLS Softsynth any CC features as well ?

I don't use AP4 but if you get Chainer (SA + VSTi) you can load it into Acid and the load it (Chainer) with your plugs. In chainer you can assign CC#s to parameter controls with MIDI learn.

FYI: Some great freebies (SuperWave P8) come with a .txt that lists CC#s. Most plugs will use the same #s as hardware. The Novation A-Station manual lists the most common. Go read it:

Go to

http://www.kvr-vst.com

They have CC lists for many VSTis.

Hmm. This seems to have changed. There once was a link to softsynth CC's and such.

Did you try contacting the vendor/developer of the plugins you need this information for?

As far as what channels, most freeware are very limited with regard to their multi-channelness". That is, they typically use a single channel or omni modes of operation.

Note also the reason that they are freeware is that they don't have the QA and documentation ability that a commerical company does. For example, the NI VSTis all have extensive documentation regarding their CC and other control features. But you have to pay for this kind of support.

i guess now i found the solution (thanks to grooovewerx) with chainer which lists all adjustable parameters in a kind of gui-less mode and lets even midi learn to a specific controller.
this truly rox :)))
