If anybody is using the Ozone Keyboard could you tell me why when I plug my guitar into the 1/4" instrument jack on the back, and try to record a track onto acidpro 4.0, I only get one side (Right) on the sound meters?
Thanks for any input.
Regards,
Kev

Believe that the 1/4" TRS (balanced) Instrument In is known as channel 2 (Mic In is channel 1), hence why it's coming through the right channel only.

If you want to record stereo, there should be a switch labeled, "Direct Monitor Stereo/Mono," on the back of the Ozone. When it's set to Stereo, Mic In will go to Channel 1 (left) and Instrument In will go to Channel 2 (right). When it's set to Mono, whatever source (mic or instrument) will go to both channels.

See? It pays to read manuals. ;o)

Hello Md,
Yes... I too read the manual... but that Direct Monitor Stereo/Mono switch on the back pretty much only directs(or controls?) the signal going to the headphone jack of the Ozone for monitoring purposes, not recording. My gripe about the situation is when I put a guitar through the instrument jack(no matter if the direct monitor switch is stereo or mono), on the record window in acid, only the right bar receives a signal. Even a mono signal coming from the cheap condenser mic on my computer will utalize both bars in the record window of Acid. Why doesn't interface in Ozone? Also when I play back that recorded track too see how I like the take, the guitar's signal is again, all to one side( no matter where the switch on back is set to). The only way the half-ass correct the problem is to pan the track to the silent side some.
Do you think the interface design is weird, or is it just newbe ignorance. Well please let me know what you think. I'm tempted to return this and go for the miaMidi possibly, if I can't figure this out. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Kev

When you record in ACID, just record the guitar mono, since this is what a guitar typically is and it sounds like what the Ozone is doing. You can select to record either the left or right channel in ACID's record dialog. This way you will get a mono track added to the ACID time line.

Hmmm...

I know that with my M-Audio Audiophile 2496, if I select just the right channel (which is listed as "SPDIF In Mono, Right Channel") as input in the Record dialog, I end up with a waveform that's right in the center of the event.

Which driver model are you using? Be sure to select, "Ozone-R" if using WDM/MME or "Ozone ASIO 2" if using ASIO.

The only driver I have ever install into my computer was the one I had to download from the M-audio website to use my Ozone, and that driver file only said Ozone version 1.0.1.0. Do I need to install other drivers to utilize the things I have? I really don't know much about drivers, this is all so new. I'm just used plugging into my Porta One and recording! Sorry for all the questions.

Kev

Try going to Options>Preferences and under the Audio tab, choose the desired audio device type at the top. There should be a couple of choices in there, including "Windows Classic Wave Driver" and the listing for ASIO for the Ozone.

With either model, you should be able to choose a specific input for recording under "Record device" in the Record window.

Hey MD,
I figured it out! In the record box, there is a drop down that displays three options for the Ozone. Two of which are labled, mono(left channel) & Mono (rt. channel), and the other simply,Ozone. When I recorded on mono rt. channel, I half expected it to pan right, but on playback the signal was smack in the middle on the track view where it should be. I guess me seeing the lables rt. & lft. detoured me from using those on the drop down. I guess I should be more expermental! Well anyways...I happy now :) Thanks for all your help.
Regards,
Kevin

It's always the simplest things that dangle right in front of our faces, isn't it? :o)
