Subject:Sync offsets to bar 1800?

It's been a few years since I got into Acid the first time around. I was an original 1.0 owner. I just got 4.0e, and WOW...what a difference.

I remember having this problem back when I first tried ACID 1.0, and here it is again. I'm trying to sync Acid to Logic on two different computers. Logic is Master, Acid is slave (yes I know it doesn't like to be slave, but thats what I like). Everything goes well enough, but when Acid recognizes the MTC, it jumps to bar 1800!!! Everything seems to sync OK from there....but I want it to start at bar 0, of course. There are no offsets configured in either program. I totally remember this happening to me a few years ago with ACID, and there was a fix that I found...but can't find now. Does anyone know of this issue?

Also for clarity...if I set up ACID to trigger from MTC, will it Start/Stop on the command of the Logic Master...or do I have to hit Play/Stop in ACID to get it rolling so it will chase to the word clock input? I read in another post that MTC does not generate Start/Stop commands. Is this true? "Trigger" sounds like it will respond to Start/Stop.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ron

IF you go to the advanced config page for Sync, you can tell ACID how long to take to lock up.

HOWEVER, you can never set this to zero as it takes some time to do this. When using ACID as a MTC slave, you should use an offset. That is set your ACID time "zero" to 1 hour, and then set your master to start at 1 hour. When you start playback in your master, start play BEFORE 1 hour so that ACID has time to "lock" to the incomming time code.

Yes, ACID will stop once the master stops sending time code, as stopping the master is an implied stopping of the timecode. ACID will "freewheel" a bit on loss of the time code, but this can also be adjustest.

Thanks for the reply. This all makes sense, and I will try this tonight.

However, I don't understand why ACID is jumping to bar 1800 without an offset. It does this almost immediately, so I'm not thinking that its a lock up problem. And I've had this happen before. I think this is a known issue that can be tweaked...I just can't remember the tweak.

BTW...I understand that ACID will STOP shortly after losing timecode. But will it START (Trigger?) once locking to time code?

Thanks again,

Ron

Yes, once ACID is locked, it will trigger. The amount of time it takes to lock is configuratble.

If ACID is jumping to "bar" 1800, then something is telling it to. What does the MTC input clock in ACID tell you the "recieved" MTC time is?
