Hi, I've just discovered, thanks to MD, how to change the instrument in the softsynth mixer window. But do I need to download .dls files so I can change the instrument? I click on the VOICE icon and select, say, Cello. But it still plays the piano when I playback. Do I need to fill these banks are are all these patches actually on my system? I can't get it to play CELLO or Clav AFTER selecting the voice. It still plays the pianoroll. HELP Faye |

Holy Crap! Okay, I figured it out but this is just silly!!!! You go into the softsynth mixer window, double-click on the pink icon to look at new voices, then you have to write them down. Patch#, MSB#, LSB#.... Then,... You go to the track bar, right click, hit properties, go into LIST EDITOR, hit INSERT EVENT, then drop down to PATCH, then manually type in the patch info~!! What the? This is crazy, you can;t just double-click it in the DLS softsynth window. No comprendez. Oh well. At least I figured out how to do it, long way or not. Faye I'm going to go have a drink now. Patch changes in the MIDI data stream override any changes you make in the softsynth (DLS or VSTi). You can delete the program changes in the MIDI stream in the List Editor. From that point on the syth will use the voice that is selected as active from its UI. Make sure you have the latest version as patch selection in the DLS synth was implemented in 4.0. 4.0e has this update. Peter |
