Subject:New guy with 4.0 - having trouble recording

I have an outoard digital recorder (Zoom mrs 1044) and I'm trying to transfer my tracs onto Acid 4.0. My sound card is a Creative Extigy. The interface from the outboard to the sound card is SPDF optical then into the computer with a USB. When I record I'm coming up blank screen. I've tried enabling line-in and midi/WAV inputs from my computer.

Nothing is registering on my input meters or on the trac playback.

Help!

If you're recording via S/PDIF, is the Extigy set to slave to the Zoom? (There has to be a master S/PDIF clock set for everything else to slave to. In this case, your Zoom would act as the master while the Extigy slaves to it.) You should be able to select/set the appropriate S/PDIF sample rate.

From what I could glean, it's 44.1 kHz for the Zoom. You should use this sample rate for recording or playback. If that doesn't work, try 48 kHz.

Be sure to also select the appropriate input for recording in the Record dialog window (under "record device" at the bottom).

try setting your sound card mixer to record the SPDIF optical input and sending the output signal from your zoom via a SPDIF optical cable

i don´t know much about recording with USB but i would of thought most sound card mixers don´t have an option to set a USB input

consult your exitgy manual for available record in-puts
