My Midex 8 midi interface is not recognized in Acid 4.0. I have the latest drivers installed.
Reason 2.0 is another program does not recognize the midex 8. If I plug in my oxygen 8 via usb; reason recognizes it. But I need the midex 8 to show up so that I can control my external hardware via midi.
Midex 8 is recognized perfectly with cubase 5.1 and i can use all my vsti's.
These are legal versions of the software.
??????? Help please!!!!

Does the Midex's inputs actually show up amongst the MIDI devices for input? (Check the MIDI tab under Options>Preferences on the menu bar.)

If you're having trouble recording any soft synths via MIDI, try moving the pitchbend wheel on your MIDI controller before hitting any key while recording. For some reason, some MIDI controllers act screwy (e.g., no input recorded) while other work just fine.

Sorry; my midi interface doesn't show up (midex 8) nor does my akai mpd 16. I have the midi controller and akai mpd16 connected directly via usb and the oxygen 8 is connected via ac power to the Midex 8 controller. All works well w/ cubase 5.1. I have the same problem with reason. However oxygen 8 is the only one that shows up when connected directly via usb.

So the Midex 8 and the Oxygen8 are both connected via USB? Could they be conflicting?

Does the Midex 8 show up under Device Manager? Have you tried a utility like this one from M-Audio that cleans out previously installed MIDI devices?

Yes the midex 8 and the mpd 16 show up via device manager.

The oxygen 8 is plugged in via ac power to my midex 8. The midex 8 and the mpd 16 are connected directly to pc via usb.

Nothing shows up in midi in acid prefs.

When I have the oxygen 8 connected via usb it shows up fine everywhere.

What if you tried one or the other (the Midex 8 or the MPD16)? Are they both on the same USB controller? (Typically, one USB controller contains two USB ports.)

Have you contacted Steinberg and/or Akai to see what they say?

Cheked it all out; no one has any answers. But the oxygen 8 works fine when plugged in directly via usb. It's cool Acid was just meant to control Vst-i's.
I would love to know if anyone else has been successful in getting their midi interface (like midex 8 or multi-port midi interface) to show up. I would love to use my external hardware sound modules along with vst-i's in acid.

Hi again David,

Did you try that utility I suggested in an earlier post? If there are too many entries in the Registry, a problem occurs where any newly installed MIDI ports will not show up, possibly causing what you're experiencing.
