Subject:Acid Forgets plug-ins/FX settings??

When adding plug-ins to tracks ie: Steinberg compressor, Waves Plug-ins etc, when you minimize the FX (so they disappear) the effect is on the Audio track - but when you open the Effect again to alter the setting a little more, the FX setting on any plug-in is "flat"?! ie: back to normal and re-set

Doesnt Acid remember its settings? the "Audible" effect may still be on but the visual settings re-set themselves!!!

I think this goes for VSTi's too with Freq / Resonance on synths!!

Anyway round this??

Does it happen with SoFo's own plug-ins?

No i think SoFo's own stuff is ok - just anything else

Direct X / VST etc - all go "flat" when trying to re-edit them

Can you give us a few more details so we can understand better what you are talking about here?

By 'flat' do you mean the automation envelopes are flattening to default or are you dismissing the audio plug-in window and the plug-in UI settings are going back to default?

What version of plug-ins are you using? (Waves 3, 4? Which Waves plug-in? There are a few different packs... we have them here so give us something specific to look at so we know we're looking at the same things.)

Please make sure you are using ACID 4.0e.

We'll be checking back on this thread for your reply.
Thanks!

Im using waves 3.5 or 4, as well as Steinberg mastering edition etc - I mean that you add a FX plug in to the Audio track, edit it then "minimize" to work on something else

When you go back to it to re-edit later on, the effect may still be the same, but the visual FX setting has gone back to normal (flat) settings, making it impossible to do any tweaking!!

I think its ok with SOFO's own plug-ins though..I am using Acid 4.0e

Also whens Acid 5.0 due - DESPERATE for acid as Rewire Slave!!!! (sorry if that came out of the blue there!)

Minimize what?
-The audio track you added the effect to?
-The entire app (ACID) in windows?
-The audio plug-in dialog?

What are you editing?
-an effect envelope?
-effect settings directly in the audio plug-in dialog?

Minimize the Effect so you can wok in the main Acid Window

And editing effect settings directly in the audio plug-in dialog - ie the settings within a Waves (3.5) by the way, or Steinberg Mastering Editions ie: Compressor

When you minimize the FX to work on some Other Audio within Acid and then re-open your Effect the Visual display on the FX is Flat

Maybe a similar situation...

When using Magnus ambience (with DX wrapper lite), I choose a preset, then close the ambience plug-in window, when I reopen the track FX plugin window, the ambience preset has defaulted back to "untitled" even thought the FX settings have not changed. So if I forgot what preset I had selected, I would not know what it was

I have this experience with Ambience in a wrapper, too. It jumps back to the first preset. I always thought it was dropping what I'd selected. I should go back and listen and see if this is actually the case, or if it's just losing the GUI info and not the actual settings used.

Buckaroo, I think you may have caught an interesting bug!

I have just tried this and get the same problem.

Add a track and bring up the effects chain (default one is eq), I then added in the Chorus that comes with acid and selected a preset, clicked back to the eq effect and then back to the chorus, the settings in chorus are correct but the preset says untitled.

Is this the same as you guys are having?

YES AT LAST!!!

Thanks Guys (L25. Dkistner and Paulsalter)

Its not just me then??!!! - im trying to explain to the Sofo guys about it - Annoying isnt it??!!! - yeah it defaults to untitled with every FX and i think maybe Plug ins too...(V-station did it also i think!!!)

Help!! (also Acid 5.0 OR 4.0F with REWIRE Slave please??)

Yes I get this in Acid and Vegas 3. Very annoying, especially when audtioning various presets! If I'm not taking notes, or saving each tweak as a user preset, its impossible not to get lost and confused. It happens on all plugins including SOFO's. This should be fixed!

Ah... yes.

We have known about that for a while (since it's been around for a while) and it's definitely on our bug list. We hope to be able get to that soon.

Thank you for the clarification.
