I was just wondering if it is possible to control some of the functions and FX Automation by the means of an external midi controller? For example, I've see the Live software by Ableton (www.ableton.com) that uses an Evolution external controller to control some many of controls in the program by knobs and slides on the hardware. |

Any MIDI-related is definitely controllable. For example, you can record via a soft synth and do pitch bends. You just have to make sure everything is configured properly by ensuring that the appropriate MIDI input is enabled on the MIDI tab under Options/Preferences and that it's selected as the record device (and the appropriate soft synth is selected as the MIDI thru device). Since the FX automation features are by and large in the digital audio realm, I don't believe they are able to be controlled via an external MIDI controller. Just the nature of the beast, I guess. MIDI and digital audio are two very different monsters. HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |

Thats a shame because with the hands-on of a hardware interface, ACID would really come to life I imagine. It would allow realtime tweaking that would make a normal piece of music into an almost live piece. Here's hopeing for the future... |

If there was a hardware interface à la Logic's, it'd be nice. Then again, ACID was never meant to be a live tool, nor a complete studio, though there are some who are using it like such. Truth be told, an ACID project can be made to sound "live" with the right setup and the right techniques. And there are some sounds that can't be captured otherwise. (Like an EBow used with a guitar.) Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |
