Well I just got windows xp (upgraded from win98 se)and I'm getting a lot of problems and errors using Acidpro 4.0...I saw a few threads down that you should create a new user account with administrative rights.....well I'm already on the admin account, and I was wondering if I'm supposed to create a new admin account again.....

The problems I'm getting right now is when I play/stop a few times, sometimes, I get an error. Another problem I get is when I try to record, I get the error sometimes....it's all spontaneous and it's not stable at all and I can't get any work done, so if anyone can give me some advice, it would be appreciated. Thanks

As with most MS O/S upgrades, you should perform a clean install instead of overwriting an existing O/S. You can also Install XP on a new drive and switch the existing C\: drive to be a slave on the cable. That way your programs remain intact under the new O/S.

But since you've already overwritten the old, I suggest you un-install then re-install Acid and call SF to unlock it.

Second what groovewerx said. I would uninstall and reinstall ACID. If that didn't work, install Windows XP clean rather than upgrade.

You should also make sure you have stable drivers for your devices (like your soundcard/audio interface) under Windows XP.

You are using the original release of ACID 4.0 (build 215).

You should update ACID to 4.0e.

>>Not sure if you read, but I've alreayd done that
I did not read in any of your posts where you stated you installed the latest build of ACID - 4.0e.

According to the crash dump you posted you are using 4.0 (build 215)

What version of ACID - build number also - are you now using?

Also, when you do install any update, make sure you let the installer replace the temporary files it installs to your harddrive. If you don't, then the existing version will be reinstalled.

Ver. 4.0e build 408 is the latest version according to the post that's not what you're using first go here get the latest Acid Update...

http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step2.asp?DID=405

After go here and follow the directions for optimization...

http://www.musicxp.net/

You may also want to research ACPI vs Standard Computer setups.
Also have a look into conflicts with Video and Audio cards sharing IRQs.
Hope this helps...Level Vibes

And be sure you get all the latest Windows XP updates relevant to what you are doing. (I don't get things like Journal Viewer, Jet, etc., because they trashed me.)
