Subject:Filter question again

At this audio file: http://members.lycos.nl/alexderennes/TheVoice.mp3
it sounds if the voice-over is faded in by some sort of filters. How to do it in SF6.0e?
I already asked the producers of the radio-station "The Voice" in Danmark, but they won't tell anything about the sound efx and processing of voice's. That's their secret.
However they said, everything is produced in ProTools.

Reverse the sound add reverb and reverse again.
Reaction before action is possible in Sound Forge.

Thanks for your answer, but how to stretch the "THE" as it sounds in the voice-over(TheVoice.mp3)? The effect has something this reminds me a little of horror/suspense movies, if you know what I mean...

Once again, no particular effect on "the" aside from the reverse reverb. What you're hearing that sounds like it's been stretched is the reverse reverb building up to the "the".

I've heard the sample too, and indeed it sounds like a ghostly reverse reverb effect (maybe with a little chorus thrown in?). Follow instructions as vanblah noted and experiment along the way.

Do they think they're being witty in the process of keeping this secret? Or does ProTools just give them a big head and make them feel important?

(My apologies to those using ProTools.)

Here's another example, where this reverve-reverb effect is even better to hear:
http://members.lycos.nl/alexderennes/TheVoice2.mp3
Unfortunately I don't get this effect to my own satisfaction done, not even close the way as the example sounds like. I think tried exactly the procedure as vanblah has been descripted. What I am doing wrong?

Thanks for your help.

You might try using Vegas so that you can draw an envelope for the reverb time. It sounds like they are increasing reverb over time on the reversed sample. This way you get lots of reverb at the beginning of the sample (once it is reversed again) and then a drier sound at the end. You can also try gating the reverb ... in other words the reverb cuts off at a certain threshold.

I wish I could tell you exactly what the engineers did to achieve this particular effect but applying effects to audio is rarely a cookie recipe process. You start with what you know and then constantly build on it. Now that you know the basic process, you should experiment with different settings and techniques until you find what you are looking for.

Also keep in mind that even if you knew the identical steps and settings used, the effect would sound different on different material. Other differences such as sample rate, bit depth, number of channels, which effects algorythms used, etc. will all come into play too.

For that matter, duplicating someone else's sound may be good practice for the budding artist/engineer/editor, but creativity is all about developing your own sound.

Try adding some slow flange after you reverse the waveform and before you add reverb and reverse it back. Again, experiment.

Could the .mp3 track in question be placed somewhere that non-members can get to it? Or is the problem my employer's firewall?

That's right, every application is different. On the full promo I hear nothing anymore from that effect. http://members.lycos.nl/alexderennes/Promo_150803.mp3
I need to do some more testing...
