Subject:Non-stop mix track breaks...?

Is there anyway to include a track break without having a pause? I have composed two non-stop mixes (one Rap/HipHop and one Techno/Dance) where each song crossfades or mixes into the next song without any kind of pause. Is there a way I can add track breaks while still having the mix be continuous?

?

Are you trying to burn a CD via ACID? Since ACID uses Track-at-Once burning only, the 2 second pause is inherent to the format. (You'd want Disc-at-Once (DAO) to get no gaps between tracks. Vegas and CD Architect both do DAO, as well as 3rd party apps like Easy CD Creator and Nero.)

I can burn via ACID with no prob-it is just that it creates '1' 75+ min. track. I want to be able to have breaks scattered throughout the CD so that if I want to skip to a section I can but if not then the CD would just play as if it was one track. Does that make any sense?

Yes, but as mD said, you can't do this directly from Acid. You need to use another app that has DAO (disc at once) burning (Nero, Vegas, CD Arch, etc). Cakewalk's Pyro is a cheap alternative if you don't have any of the others. These apps will allow you to place track markers anywhere you like.

If you have Sound Forge (the full version, not the "Studio" version), you can also place regions as appropriate, render the whole mix and bring it into Sound Forge and use its "extract regions" feature to break the mix up into several files. You can then use the DAO burning app of your choice.

Other than that, using only ACID, you can set markers or regions over the areas where you'd like track breaks. Then double-click in between the markers or regions to set the Loop Region to the area and burn using the "burn loop region only" option. Please note, however, as drbam and I have noted before, that ACID burns using Track-at-Once (TAO) burning. There will be a 2 second gap of silence between burned tracks.

To slightly modify mD's response, you can render regions from ACID into separate .wav files and then use another DAO burning application (like Nero or Easy CD Creator) to burn a disc-at-once from these separate files. Sound Forge isn't necessary.

Yep. There are so many options here you almost feel spoiled. ;o)
