Weak signal and distortion when recording -ACID Product Family

Subject:Weak signal and distortion when recording Posted by: univalve Date:8/14/2003 10:47:50 PM I bought Acid 4.0 so I could record 24 bit guitar parts into Acid tracks. However, I can't get even a remotely decent recording into Acid. My setup records fine into Sound Forge or Vegas but will not work with Acid. I always get a very faint, buzzy crappy sounding track. I'm using an Emagic 2/6 card into a Dell laptop that works fine (for my purposes) into Sound Forge and Vegas but it would be a hell of a lot easier to just record into Acid after throwing together some kind of backing track. I've tried using both the WDM and the Emagic ASIO driver and get the same result with both. Is there something obvious I'm missing?

Have you contacted both Sony/SoFo and Emagic and let them know what's going on? (This almost sounds like what happened with M-Audio's ASIO driver for their Delta series and ACID 4.0, which was M-Audio's fault and subsequently fixed by them.) Does 16-bit work OK? I already have the latest driver installed for the emi 2/6 and I get the same result with 16 bit as I do with 24 bit. I haven't contacted Emagic or Sonic Foundry yet (that can be an especially futile effort with Emagic in particular!), I thought I'd try here first.
