Subject:Can't hear other tracks while recording... Help please
Date:8/13/2003 11:39:42 PM

Hello, I just recently got Acid after a friend recommended it for recording music. I started recording a guitar track and it sounded great. However, when I pressed record again to add a second guitar track, it did not play the first track at the same time. This makes it slightly difficult considering I have no way to keep tempo or match up where I am and what I'm doing. It seems useless right now to only be able to record one track. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong so that I can hear previous tracks while simultaneously recording new ones. Thanks!!

Hey, dude..........I just had the opposite problem--all the tracks were recording to the new track. I think you can solve your problem by going to your sound card's mixer dialog and changing the record input settings.

Try going to your soundcard's software mixer and and ensure both the input you intend to use for recording and the chosen output for playback are enabled and their sliders are all the way up.

Note that you may not be able to do what you want depending on the soundcard you're using. (A related topic can be found here.) What soundcard are you using?
