Hello,

I need to know what format to use to get the best possible sound quality (this is then mixed with animation in Premiere then finall sent to Cleaner 5 Pro for the final compression).

I'm currently using Wave PCM Uncompressed 48,000/16/Stereo. Is there anything better?

Thanks!

I'll answer with another question.
What's the best format that Premiere takes?
That would be the limiting factor I'd think.
In any case 44.1/16 wave is fine. If you used loops, most of those are that format anyways.
Now if you worked with 96/24, it would be ideal to keep in 96/24 until all your editing is complete.

And it depends on your soundcard, too. Like, if you've got a Soundblaster or Audigy, you want to work at 48,000 because (last time I looked) that's what those cards do and it puts too much of a strain on cpu if there's this constant translation from 44,100 going on. Use 32-bit float (or higher if you've got it) at the editing stage. Then resample to the format you'll need for Premiere when you've got your final done, in your audio editor.

Generally speaking, WAV format is usually the best, since it's an uncompressed format, but as MyST noted, it will depend on what app you're using. Believe AIFF format would be ideal if you ever had to deal with Macs.
