This may be a stupid question, but I read the loops license agreement and didn't understand all of the legalese. If I buy ACID loops off of this site, can I use those in a short movie I make and send to festivals, etc? Thanks, |

You can use SoFo's Acid loops in anything you want, as long as they are mixed with other media (ie other loops/music, pictures, film, video, etc.). You just can't resell them individually. Third party producers vary in their agreements, but most follow the same parameters. Some (like Magix) only allow private usage, and you have to get an additional license if you want to sell your finished product. Another thing to keep in mind is that you can't attribute the music to the musician who created the loops (ie you can use Mick Fleetwood loops in a song you sell, but you can't say Mick is your drummer.) |

To further what Jess said, you may use Sonic Foundry's loop collections in anything professional that you create for whatever amount you agree to for the work. That would include soundtracks for movies you send to festivals. You may creatively mangle the loops as you see fit within your work. Just don't repackage the loops on their own and sell them or make them available to others. It's considered OK to collaborate once in a while with others who are also using ACID. More than likely others who you collaborate with will have the same collection and use ACID heavily. HTH, Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid mD's ACIDplanet Page |
