Upon reading the FAQ under the Sony Pictures Digital Aquires....on SF's home page
http://www.sonicfoundry.com/news/sony.asp#1432
Question #5 - "Does Screenblast Acid replace Acid Music"
From the answer it sounds like Acid Pro will be phased out in the future.
Is that true?

I read it to mean that ACID Music will be replaced by Screenblast and that the lessor ACID Latin & ACID Techno type apps would be phased out. But, the flagship app ACID Pro will live on. So basically you will be left with Screenblast ACID for the beginner to intermediate and ACID Pro for the advanced user.

That's exactly how I read it. Most of the "XPress/Studio/Lite/Demo" versions of SF software are going to be replaced with Screenblast branded tools, and that includes all "lite-ish" verions of ACID, including Techno, Music, DJ, etc. Software like Siren will also be Screenblast-ed. Acid Pro, Sound Forge (Full), Vegas (Full), and so on will probably get a "Sony Screenblast's Sonic Foundry-" prepended to their names, but will remain the same. That means the same functionality and development team, and probably the same price. Though we can always hope that Sony's ungodly might will free up the resources for some great dev. advances in the next few versions, as well as a lower price, but don't hold your breath.

Yo, the big deal is to see if Sony have the will to take Acid Pro to the Professionnal Standard level (like Pro Tools), by develloping HARDWARE dedicated for Acid Pro...

Let's dream about it
