Subject:Can't VV play AC3 files?

Vegas doesn't even show the AC3 files it encodes in the Explorer window. Is this program not capable of playing back a Dolby Digital encoded file?

AC3 is pretty much an output only format so having VV able to bring it in or play it would be pretty pointless. I know that sounds odd but AC3 is not as simple as multiple audio tracks glued together. The AC3 encoder does a lot of things to the audio including controlling the dynamic range. There are programs around to convert AC3 back such as BeSweet. If you watch what it's doing when it does the conversion you'll get a idea of the issues.
