Hey... I have 4.0e & I just realized that when I record a track while monitoring the previously recorded material, my new track has both the signal that I just recorded & the signal that I was monitoring as well. I know that if you mute the original track it won't show up on the new track but, if I am recording say... a guitar solo or something, I will want to hear what I'm playing over - how do I do this? I have a soundblaster audigy platinum sound card

I just figured it out by going into my soundcard's mixer & the record box was recording "what u hear" instead of just my desired input (aux 2) -duuuuh

Ah but what a great feeling when we figure it out on our own, don't ya think?
How's the Fostex headphones?
I'm reading through that little reference book for mixing I told you about (Basic Mixing Techniques- Paul White). Really useful info!
