Should I record using Soundforge 5.0 in stereo or mono when source I record from has two tracks, and only one track has sound/signal on it? Other track is "mute". When I record in Soundforge mono, the playback is soft. When I record in stereo it plays back nice/beefy/loud. Which is better and does really make any difference in end when I finally burn to CD? Also, what if I record/transfer with Soundforge 5.0 from 2 track mono analog source tape (cassette tape). Should I record in stereo or mono? |

Your probably using a mini-jack and getting only the muted or attenuated left channel. You can record both channels then convert it to mono. FIle>Properties>Format; Select>Mono>; select: Both or right channel only. If a track is mono to begin with, and is going to stay that way, there's no need to record in stereo. A mono file will save you drive space, rendering time, ect. Burning an audio CD from a mono or stereo wave file makes no difference. You still get the same maximum time of 74- 80 minutes either way. |
