How to stop edges from being cut off on TV

I've got AVI video and when VEGAS renders it, it cuts off the outer edges. I realize that there is the "safe" zone one must stay within.

Is there a way to shrink the video in order to stay within the safe zone limits?

I know I can propably manage using the "Track Motion" feature, but is there a better way or other way?

What's the source size? I use 720x480, and it works fine, I just have to watch if I do any text editing. The preview window does have a buton that turns on the Safe Zone monitor.

The Sourse IS 720X480. My problem is that the Safe Zone shows what I don't want cut off is going to be and it does likewise on TV.

It's obvious that I have to do something. The dilema is that I have multiple video tracks, some of which are have been edited with "Track Motion", so if I fiddle with one of the tracks I'm going to have to reset the others too.

Is there a "Track Motion" for video bus? That way I could just change the entire video set.

Perhaps you could resize the project inn the Project Properties to be a bit smaller and get the result you need. I haven't tried this.

Chaging the project size won't work, and sorry, no Track Motion on the video bus, although that would be pretty useful.

If you haven't done any parent/child grouping in this project, you can use it for this. Add a new video track at the top. Put a solid white generators on it for the length of the video. Check the "Make Copositing Child" button on all video tracks below it. Now, use track 1's Track Motion to position your final output.

If you've used parent/child grouping, then you're going to have to adjust track motion for all tracks, or render to an intermediate file and then create a single-track project to size that down (you could use frame serving to skip the render).

Dennis, just a curious question, but is there a way to prevent Track Motion on a parent track from affecting child tracks? This could be very useful for masks. To be honest, i didn't expect Track Motion to affect child tracks and was quite surprised to find that it did.
