i seem to have an issue with Sound Forge 6.0. i do alot of voice editing on large files so i region out my takes then just export the regions to files. occasioanlly when i go to save my file (so nothing bad happens to them like a power failure!) i get an error saving.

"an error occured while saving one or more files"
"an error occured reading the files. make sure you have read access to the file/folder and that it's not cuorrupted"

hitting ok then gets me to another error

"the window something.wav refers to one or more media files that another application has modified or delete"
"the results of this are umpredicatble and my resule in unexpect silent section"

hitting ok get me to another error

"an error occured while saving one or more files"
"an error occured reading the files. make sure you have read access to the file/folder and that it's not cuorrupted"

hitting ok the takes me to

"there are still 1 jobs remaining in the queue. do you want to continue processing the remaining jobs?"

hitting yes show me my file with ALL my regions in place but a silent *.wav file.

closing this file then reopening it gives me a *.wav file with 0 regions in it.

so i seem to have a problem with saving files. any ideas? these are all files that are stored on my local HD and i have total read/write access to them.

Perhaps you are using Extract Regions and it is still in progress when you attempt to save? This should be disallowed, but could have been overlooked.

If that is the case, to test the theory, keep track of which regions you are extracting and verify they've been extracted (with an explorer window) before saving the original.

Or save the original before extracting regions.

i do not extract regions until the entire file is completed with my ediuts, it can cause this error if i save after i amke my first region. i do not think it is realted to exporting.

and right now what i have to do when i want to save is, i select all and drag to a new window and save a "safe" copy before i save the original. but really, when you hit save it really shouldn't destroy your file :)

i was with emails with sonic foundry about this but they stopped responding, it seems to have to do with files that were exported from ProTools. header file issues maybe?

1) Try the 'Keep media files locked' checkbox in Options->Prefs->File.
2) Look for a utility on the web called RIFFview and use it to verify the original file is valid.
3) 'Save As' a backup copy before you begin regioning and just use that.
4) If you are a licensed user, tech support should not just "stop responding" until submitting the issue to the developers or resolving it...
