if i still have the .wav file, is there a need to save an .sfk file? what info does it store? |

You don't have to save it. All it is is the graphical representation of the wave form that you see on the screen while editing the file. You may delete them without losing anything. SoundForge and other SonicFoundry software generate these automatically when you open a file. If the .sfk files already exist then they will be used which can save some time. So, if you plan on doing more editing work on a particular file you might want to keep it's .sfk file around until you're done editing, and then delete it. |

SFK files are pretty small and make your waves load faster. i made a batch file to hide all sfk files it can find when i run it. that way i don't need to look at the clutter but still get their usefulness. :) |

And I remember being told that you can set a Preference to hide the .sfk files so they don't clutter up your folders, but are still there to speed things up. |
