What synths are you using? How fast is this machine?

Also, what playback buffer and Advanced settings are you using that provide you with "no latency"? If you simply pulled down the playback buffer fader to 0, you may need to tweak a more under the Advanced page for the Windows Classic Wave driver you are using to get acceptable results. What is the lowest latency you can achieve without hearing clicking?

im using the WDM drivers so its instant and no latency which i thought was recommened?

therefore the playback buffer etc is greyed out..

It sounds like you are using the ASIO drivers for your card, which will grey out the playback buffer.

In this case, you may have the buffer in the ASIO driver for your card set too low. Try clicking Advanced, then Configure to open your sound card's ASIO control panel. Up the buffer size there slightly and see if it corrects the clicking with keeping latency low enough to be functional.

Yes thats what i thought, but when i move the buffers up the ASIO scale ie : from 128 to 256 when i close it and re-open it , it jumps back to where it was (the lowest setting!)

How do i get round this?

The buffers for your sound card's ASIO driver are wholly dependant on the drivers themselves. ACID just asks the driver to open the panel when you click Configure.

What card are you using?

Does the card have it's own control panel? If you change the buffer size there, does it stick?

I'm experiencing the same thing, too many vsti's and sound clicks.
Im using Edirol DA2496 which is pretty pro...but i still get the same results..

The latency has to be turned up quite high (2048 samples for me at the moment) if u have loads of vsti tracks esp if u are playing chords on ur tracks coz that takes up even more damage.

The main thing that is affecting this is the CPU... playing live vsti's with lots of tracks and plugins on ur production bumps up the cpu cycles intensively because everythin is playing off the software live...

only way round this is to bounce ur tracks down after u are finished adjusting them, that or use cubase or logic which has better control over the vsti's than Acid...coz acid is just in its infancy for controlling VSTi's
