If you have listen to CHER's BELIEVE song you will notice what want to get. Is it available any plug or effect to have this Great Vocal Effect??? |

That's a vocorder. I believe (NPI) www.analogx.com has a free one. I can't vouch for it though I haven't tried it. MJ |

Actually, It's Antares Autotune. Normally, this plugin is used to put vocals in tune, when a note is slightly off key. In the instance of Cher "Believe", they intentionally over used it, by pitch bending the notes too far. |

It is severely applied Autotune. It is also extremely tiresome, well thrashed, and already dated. An excellent way to get people to switch off your music. But that's just my opinion .... geoff |

Very informative article Died. Thanks for posting. I used to cover Believe a few years back and the singer saw Cher on a talkshow saying it was a vocorder. She (the singer) said "I need a vocorder!" we said "for one song?". MJ |

I stand corrected too. This artical is certainly more authoriative that the oe I read describing how it was done with Auto-tune ! However , a similar effect can be obtained with Auto-tune, and is similarly tiresome when over-used by many peope over a short time. Like in ten years *if the music is not totally forgotten) people will say "Oh yes, that must have been recorded late-2002 ! " . Alan Parsons notwithstanding.... geoff |

In the Autotune manual there is mention of the "Cher effect" in the tuning speed section. I believe the reason why autotune became known as the efx used in the recording is that Cher's sound crew used the hardware version in her live performances. Several people have commented that they could easily hear the because of the radical tweaking (setting the speed to zero). ;-) drbam |

There was an article in SOS mag (the British rag) where the producers/engineers said it was a Vocoder - and exernal one. Peter |
