I downloaded the upgrade to Acid 4.0e and now when I try to open it I get the message: "Acid40 has cause an error in Acid40.DLL. Acid40 will now close" I've uninstalled & reinstalled several times. Tech support has been no help. Have Windows ME with 1.5 ram, 256k processor & SBLive! soundcard (with up-to-date drivers) Any suggestions? |

Wow, only a 256 k processor. No wonder you can't get anything done. ;o) Joking aside, try several things: -Turn anything off that's running in the background, including anything running in the Systray. Try to make sure that nothing launches before ACID does, which may be hard to do since some programs launch when Windows itself boots. (Some are even persistent after telling the offending app not to launch; the only way is to uninstall the offending program.) -Update your video card's drivers if possible. Try also turning video acceleration down or off. -Windows Me and 9x are notorious for being unstable after a period of time of being on constantly (in addition to being unstable generally compared to Windows 2000 or XP). Try rebooting your system if this is the case. Also use Windows Update to be sure you have any fixes for Me. -From the track record I've seen so far, Creative's cards are not exactly that stable with ACID. Personally, if you're using the Pro version of ACID, get a pro-level card such as those from Echo or M-Audio to match. -Install the update clean; do not "update" your existing install to 4.0e. If you go this route, be sure to keep your serial key handy, as you'll need it to unlock the full version from its demo state. HTH, Iacobus |

Had you installed any new direct x effects or softsynths before or after you updated? that's another thing to look at, sometimes rogue effects/softsynths can crash acid I've seen. |
