Subject:Got 4.0E and when install says installer for 4.0B?

I downloaded the 4.0e exe and when I went to install(after uninstall 4.0c) and when prompted to overwrite any files on install, checked "no to all" and then the installer said I was installing acid pro 4.0B ? anybody else notice this (also am Sure I got the download from the right page as read-me file says 4.0e and got .exe from same page so ?

Did you install it?
If you did, open Acid and look at the "?"(Help files) to see what version it really is. It should be listed there under About Acid.
Also, out of curiosity, why would you check NO to overwrite the files?

Actually , No I didnt go ahead with install as wondered if something to do with not choosing to overwrite or something or maybe bad link to 4.0b instead of 4.0e ?

Anyone else notice this I wonder and then see end result ? Well , i could go ahead with it anyhow as you suggest if nothing else to try( am re-downloading the 4.0e exe and see what happens ?)

If you've already started downloading the "new and improved" 4.0e, try installing that one first.
I always agree to overwrite, afterall, this is an update. :)

You must tell the installer to over write the install files.

When you launch the exe you download, it unpacks the actuall installation files to a specific location. If you have a previous version in this location and you tell the installer NOT to over write these files, then you are only re-installing the previous version.

Should the Sonic Foundry Setup directories be deleted? Outside of the obvious saving of disk space is there any advantage to getting rid of them... or conversely any benefit to retaining them?

Nope, not advatage of keeping them or then for a quicker re-install/repair. I have heard of users actually copying them to a CD as an archive since you can install directly from it.

after downloading, close acid, go to programs/sonic foundry & try to locate that file that you just downloaded - it will have a sonic foundry icon that looks different from acid 4.0 open that file & it will automatically start to write over the old version of 4.0 for you- you just haven't actually activated the newest version yet.
