Have you updated your soundcard drivers? It's been so long since I used a Creative card for audio work that I don't even know if they have ASIO support. If they don't, you may have to select a different driver. If they do have ASIO support, be sure you're not running anything else that's also calling for that driver. Also, double-check to be sure your sound settings in Control Panel have not been set to something weird. In the past, when I was using a Creative card, and I had to go back and restore my system, I discovered that the Soundblaster installation disk was horribly buggy. I don't remember exactly what hoops I had to jump through to get drivers on the machine that would work, but it wasn't pleasant, and things tended to get crapped up again after I'd thought they were working. Creative's tech support was next to worthless in helping me resolve the problem, so I finally just ditched the card and got a Mia. |

What kind of sound card are you using? I have an Audigy, that uses ASIO, not sure about any of the other Creative Cards. Just sounds like you need to re-install your sound drivers from the original cd, maybe Win2000 installed some generic sound driver, or go to soundblaster.com and look up your soundcard type and get the latest drivers. That's about all I can come up with. ~Girlio~ |

There is a situation where if the wrong ASIO driver for Creative products can remain referenced in the registry. When ACID (or Vegas) start up, it reads the registry as define by ASIO to enumerate all available ASIO drivers. When the Creative driver is referenced, it attempts to access its hardware and fails to locate it and causes this error. This should NOT effect how any other audio device works or operates under WinXP or with our products. It is just a warning. To fix this situation you should completely - and I DO MEAN COMPLETELY - remove the virus known as the Creative Lab Soundblaster or Audigy driver set. This is not an easy thing to do as Creative's drivers hook in all over your system. The alternative fix is to remove the bad ASIO driver reference in the registry. The ASIO driver references are located: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO Peter |
