Ok, I play back some music recorded to hard disc thru sound forge 5.0. I go to play it back, find a cool section I like, highlight the wave-form, hit the PLAY LOOPED BUTTON, and this section of music repeats itself ad infinitum. This is a beautiful thing. My question is: Is it possible to make a new file of this repeating loop? Thanx in advance so much! |

I tried that, but soundforge would not let me do that. How can I make NEW recording of loop playing back ad infinitum until I decide to stop NEW recording of loop? I tried doing it by clicking file then clicking new, getting dialog box which asks for bit depth, etc. Then I choose file, highlight section I want to rerecord, then I select transport>new recording, then get dialog box w/recording meters whatever the !@#& it's name is(I am a computer illiterate), then sound goes mute and recording meters do not register sound. PLEEZ someone help. |

Here is problem more clearly described: I click file>open, choose file number, file number starts playing back, I hit open, I get window w/ picture of sound wave. I find section of music I want to create an A/B repeat type of thing by highlighting visual wave form on computer screen. Then I click PLAY LOOPED BUTTON and section repeats itself ad infinitum. Then I go to file, click new, get new window dialog box, set sample rate, etc. Then I get blank new file window all the time w/music I want to record playing back. I then click special>transport>record, click record get record dialog box but music suddenly disappears. I want to record this music. What happenned? How can I accomplish this feat? Or is this impossible? |

>>>>>>I get window w/ picture of sound wave. I find section of music I want<<<<< Stop there, the selection will be all black > right click over it > Copy > Minimize that data window > Right click on the blank area > Paste to new > Save as (*.wav/pca, NOT MP3). It's much less complicated than you're thinking it is. MJ |

That doesn't work. I'm using Soundforge 5.0- there is no little arrow after I right click COPY. It doesn't go to minimize data. It doesn't seem to go anywhere. In fact I don't know what it is even doing there. Weird. The word "cut" is in dark black, not light grey, but it is as if it should be light grey because it won't get me anywhere. |

Try this .... after you've got your loop highlighted, Ctrl-C to copy, then Ctrl-E to paste that loop to a new file. Done. Simple enough? This will create a new file with the loop in it once. I get the feeling that you might want it to play more times than that though. If so, position the cursor at the end of the new file, then Ctrl-V to paste as many times as desired. |
