I'm new to this program so bare with me please... :o). The problem I'm having is when i record in acid the audio file jumbles up and ends up being short in length (around 10 to 15 seconds in to the recording...everytime). It's like my recording skips when i play it back. I read up on the manual and there is an option when you record called beatmapping the track to make it follow the tempo of the music which may cause it to expand or shrink. but i unchecked this option and it still does it. If anyone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it please let me know....peace. |

How many disk-based tracks are there in the project? ACID was not meant to be a multitracker in the truest sense. How many disk-based tracks you get away will depend on your system's configuration. There are a few things that may help: Loop and One-shot (if they're short enough) tracks are the only track types that load into RAM. Beatmapped tracks always playback from your hard drive. A fast hard drive helps, preferably a 7200 RPM model. A hard drive dedicated just for audio also helps. (You'll want the audio drive kept separate from the system drive; place it as secondary master on the secondary IDE channel.) A quality audio interface does matter (believe it or not). Having a pro-level soundcard/audio interface such as those from Echo or M-Audio can make a difference. Pass over Sound Blaster cards if you can help it. Not to knock Creative or anything (they do make a good card for general purpose tasks), but their offerings just aren't quite up to the task, despite what they say. (Are you using ACID Pro?) Do not run anything in the background while ACID is running. (Notable offenders are instant messengers, antivirus/system utilities and software firewalls.) Close any programs down if possible. Keeping software installations to a minimum may also help. Do some maintenance of your system from time to time, like scanning the disk for errors and/or running a defragmentation utility. Lastly, try updating hardware drivers for your soundcard and video card. (Also try turning down video acceleration.) Try any updates for Windows as well. HTH, Iacobus |

Hello, I am new to this also. I am using Acid Music 3.0 and when I'm recording or playing back the songs, the files stutter very badly. I am using Windows ME and the factory soundcard that's already on the drive. I really can't afford to spend anymore money so I wanted to know if there was anything that I could do to fix this problem without spending more money. Also when I tried to burn the songs down to CD a message came up that said that there was a buffer underrun and I may need to slow it down. I hope this makes sense to someone. Can anyone help me with this problem? |

Try bouncing down and disk-based tracks to about 1 or 2 if you can help it. (You can mute and keep the original tracks; they won't (or shouldn't) hamper playback performance.) If you're getting buffer underruns, try lowering the burning speed to about 2x or 4x. HTH, Iacobus |

Solo the desired tracks and then use CTRL+M on your keyboard to bounce. (Be sure that you set your newly bounced track to 0.0 dB to match that of your original tracks; it'll sound quieter otherwise, as any new track is set to -6.0 dB (or whatever the Preview slider is set to) by default.) I can't remember offhand because it's been awhile since I touched 3.0, but I believe the burning speed is set under Options>Preferences. Try looking under there. HTH, Iacobus |

Not germain here, but couldn't figure out how to send mD a note. I saw you made some comments regarding Wave Hammer. I'm trying to find some documentation on Wave Hammer the suggests the difference between how the compression and volume max. functions work. Seems to be just a different amount of compression to me, but there is probably a lot more. I can find next to nothing on Wave Hammer and actually am one of those RTFM kinda folks. Any help or guidance appreciated! Wayne |

The full Sound Forge manual has some details on Wave Hammer if that helps any. HTH, Iacobus |
