Hi all, Is it possible to transfer plug-in presets saved in Acid Pro 3.0 (On a Win98 platform) to another hard drive with Acid Pro 4.0 (On WinXP)? If so, how? Is it some configuration file to copy? Then what's its name and where can it be located? |

Nope, it didn't work. It seems the preset manager only recognizes the system presets on the hard drive where the OS and current Acid Pro is installed, not on the old one which I now use as a second hard drive... There must be some easier way... Where are the presets saved? And what is the name of that file? |

Correct, you can't do what you want. Presets are stored on your system as combination of files and registry entries depending on the chain. The Preset Manager permits you to save from an existing installation to a file that can then be imported to a different system. Since all you have is the harddrive that your old OS and ACID were installed on, you cannot gain access to the registry information that the Preset Manager requires to create its preset files for import. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DirectShow Is where the infomation about presets and chains are stored. For very small presets/chains, the data is all stored in the registry. For larger data sets, a file will be written that contains the plugin data. This data is a binary format that is not readable. It not something you can reconstruct with out the registry information.
