Subject:How do I speed up a song in SF6?

I had a cassete tape with some good ideas. The bad part is that when I dumped the songs from my old digital multitrack(before I sold it) to a cassette multitrack, I used the wrong recording speed. Now I have a casste tape that plays so slow that the songs are almost unrecognizable. Last night I dumped one song to SF and I have no idea how to speed it up...I tried the time strech and that sped up the beat but the vocal was still super slow. Can SF6 even do this?

Time Stretch isn't really what you want to use since you want to correct recording speed. Try Effects / Pitch / Bend. I'm guessing you recorded at half speed, so set Pitch Bend to add +12 semitones (one octave) and this will double the playback speed. Adjust as needed.

I tried that and I only sped up a little. What is with the graph on the right, what are all of those markers for?

The Semitone slider sets the maximum pitch bend allowed. Since i'm guessing that your speed is off by a factor of 2, set this slider to 12 because 12 semitones is an octave, or one factor of 2. The envelope line across the screen should have two boxes on it, one at the left and and one at the right. If it doesn't, click the Reset Envelope button to start from scratch. Drag the left box up to the top of the graph (+12 semitones) and also drag the right box to the top too. This specifies that the entire file will be sped up 12 semitones. Click OK. If this isn't the right speed, Undo and try again with a different setting.

You can also click anywhere along the line to add more boxes which can be moved independantly of each other. This allows you to vary the pitch as the song progresses. You can get some really bizarre mind-warping sounds this way.

You can change the sample rate in the File/Properties/Format Menu.
this will speed up/slow down just like a analoge recorder. ie: faster/higher pitch, Slower/lower pitch. Use the Sound Mapper mode to audition. then convert back to 44.1 or whatever using the Sample Rate converter.
