Is PAL Widescreen ratio 1.422 or 1.4568 ?

Just wondering why the pixel ratio for widescreen PAL D1 in Vegas is 1.4568:1 , whereas elsewhere it seems people are using the 1.422:1 ratio. Or is this a square pixels vs PAL normal ratio thing?

the bible for motion graphics -"Creating Motion Graphics with After Effects" states that this ratio should be 1.422.....whereas Vegas' preset is 1.4568. Can someone with experience in other programs than Vegas verify or explain this ?

Perhaps we should post an FAQ just for pixel aspect ratio. Do a search to find the necessary justification. The short answer is that Vegas is correct. If you need to use a different pixel aspect ratio to conform to a program that has got it wrong, you can create your own templates to do so.
