How would you go about doing this? I downloaded a midi file and I want to shorten it up and resave it. I've never worked with midi files before - I'm guessing it's not the same as rendering a new .wav or .mp3 file. |

Open the file's track properties by doubleclicking on the track header, then in the piano roll editor or the list editor, select the midi notes you want to remove and remove them (or edit however you wish), then click Save. HTH, Joel |

Adding to what Joel said, if you want to save the MIDI track as digital audio, you can place the Loop Region over a portion of the track and use CTRL+M to render the results to a new track. Depending on the length, the newly rendered track will also become ACIDized. (Tempo and key info applies to Beatmapped and Loop track types only.) The MIDI track must also be routed to a soft synth to be rendered as heard. If it's routed to external gear, then it's a no go. HTH, Iacobus |
