Congratulations, I do bitch when I run into trouble with apps (do the same with apples boys all the time) BUT...I'm just as fast to give a standing ovation when it all works. GREAT BALLS, 4e is a joy to work with again. 10ms latency in 24 bit with WDM, you boys did some brass tax work and I want to the first on deck to say thank you. Now second question, as far as an editor, vegas or forge for audio. Have some extra cash this month and keep getting pointed at wavelab but resisting it for all the reasons I mentioned above (non standardized architecture eg ASIO/VST etc) Just want something that works, not another headache to wait on a fix for perpetually between updates All best and thanks again |

Personally I can't find a reason to even ever use wavelab over soundforge 6. Here's a bundle deal at safe harbor: http://www.sharbor.com/products/SFOI0250056.html Noise reduction helped me out with this indie film that had the WORST audio you can imagine. But these two apps and ALOT of coffee[and a WHOLE lot of patience] saved the day. Awesome apps. Search around and see if you can get a better deal. Ed. |

Aw... for the boys only? I feel left out. <bg> But glad to hear that things are working well! Happy mixing! -Jenn P.S. Get Sound Forge. It rocks. But I'm a little biased.... |

It's a simple case of aiming for the majority. Or maybe Spheris is extremely selective with his complements... Back to the meat of the conversation, Vegas and Sound Forge are very different applications, with very different workflows. If you want to cut together loops and tweak your samples with great control, grab Forge. If you want to do your final mix-downs and cut in some retakes, grab Vegas. I can't think of any reason that you would want to get WaveLab, short of severe depression. |

Jenn, I was going to say that exact same thing. I get tired of the common assumption in so many forums that only men do anything with (a) computer software or (b) computer-based music. That's a misconception if there ever was one. |

Thanks for the kind words--we're very glad that 4.0e is working for you so well. Also, just a quick clarification--no less than four of the people here who helped get ACID 4.0e out the door are women. :) Cheers, Joel |
