A silly question perhaps, but does anyone know where I could get a good price on a new or used copy of Acid Pro 3.0? I happen to be a Canadian resident, so that factors into the shipping- many retailers just won't ship to Canada. So far, my hunt for 4.0 hasn't been satisfactory, so I've decided to look into getting 3.0. They pop up on Ebay every now and again, but I haven't been able to secure a deal yet.

Any help would be much appreciated- thanks everyone, you've been a big help in the past.

But neither site seems to actually *sell* Pro 3.0, as far as I can see. And even if they do, they don't ship outside of the U.S., unfortunately.

I wish that I could get the Pro 4.0/SF 6.0 bundle from GuitarVision.com, but they won't ship it to me, and even if they did, I'd fear sizable customs charges.

Kelly's Music has Acid Pro 2.0 for $30 Canadian(visit above link and disregard the Acid Pro 4.0 box).
Then you come back to this site and upgrade your Acid Pro 2.0 to Acid Pro 4.0 for 149.95$ U.S. as a download without the Content CD and there you have it. Acid Pro 4.0 for around $250 Canadian!
The exchange rate right now is the best it's been in years. I don't think you'll find a better deal.
Also, be careful and read these specials carefully. I think the bundle you're talking about is Sound Forge STUDIO (NOT the full version). Still a great product however, but I thought I'd let you know.

Your next option is to get an American, to except the mail order then ship it to you, seems easy and harmless. Or take a road trip across the border and go to a Music store...Level Vibes

One more question, though- how much does it cost to upgrade Pro 3.0 to 4.0? I can't find the rate on the site, anywhere. I don't intend to upgrade immediately if I go with Pro 3.0, anyway, but it may be something that I do down the road.

Oh, and will I still be able to update Pro 3.0 via Sonic Foundry? As in, from 3.0 to whatever subsequent versions of 3.0- I'm not familiar with how many updates there were.

Look at the STORE section then go to UPGRADES section. Acid Pro (any version I believe) to Acid Pro 4.0 is 149.95$US via a download.
That's why Kelly's Music(previous link I supplied) indicates that you can buy Acid Pro 2.0 for 30$Can then upgrade to 4.0 for 149.95$US.
I'm Canadian also, and when I can I buy SoFo software via a download. No duty charges, no taxes. The only one I bought packaged was Sound Forge 6.0 because I was ordering loop CDs that needed to be shipped anyways.
Seriously, if you buy from Kelly's at 30 bucks then turn around and upgrade to 4.0 for about 225 bucks(roughly converted to Canadian currency)...that is very cheap! Don't forget that the exchange rate right now is the highest it's been in YEARS!!
With the exchange rate the way it is, plus SoFo's really great upgrade pricing, I just upgraded to Acid Pro 4.0 AND Vegas 4.0 + DVD (Also bought Noise Reduction 2.0, but that wasn't an upgrade) a couple weeks ago. SWEEEEET!
Finally, I'd suggest that you call Sonic Foundry's customer service to confirm the Pro 2.0 to 4.0 offer seen at Kelly's.

Just a warning here:

I somebody sells you thier copy of ACID 3 to which they have upgraded to 4.0 from, you

- may be licensing an illegal copy of ACID 3.0
- and if the 3.0 license has already been upgraded to 4.0 it wont be upgradeable again.

You had better contact the seller you choose to make sure they are actually selling you thier copy of ACID 3.0 and not a old version that they upgraded to 4.0. Then contact our sales dept regarding the requirements of transfering the ACID 3.0 license from one user to the next.

Instant replies to questions of this nature.
I've contacted SoFo by phone numerous times...always got a precise answer and they are very courteous.
