Is anyone using the Delta ASIO drivers with ACID succesfully? I seem to be getting lower latency and much better results with the Classic Windows Drivers than with ASIO... in that with ASIO once a project gets to about three or four tracks, stuttering and this horrible 'aliasing' type glitch-ey sound starts happening.. I am obviously missing something in the 2496 hardware config panel... I have the latest MAudio drivers installed (.29) which were supposed to be 'fixed' for ACID... Could somebody who is running ASIO successfully post their 'functioning' 2496 panel settings here.... or offer any suggestions?? Iacobus? Thanks! teknik14 |

i'm using the 5.10.00.0029x12 drivers and i have no problems running ACID (or any other music program for that matter) with the ASIO drivers. how did you set up the Hardware Settings tab? mine looks like this : http://crook.netfirms.com/images/delta29_hstab.jpg also, perhaps it's not a driver problem, but for instance a memory or hd problem. you're saying you have no trouble at all when using the Classic Windows Drivers? in any case, the ASIO drivers should be giving much better performance. |

Hmm... the only difference between our settings is my codec sample rate is 'unlocked' and currently set to 48k, and my DMA buffer size is set 64k... so I will emulate your settings and see if there's any improvement. Are you running at 44.1/16 in ACID? As for memory, I have 1GB PC133 SDRAM, and maxtor 7200RPM drives... the audio drive is the slave on the primary IDE channel.. I'm thinking about moving the audio drive to the 'master' position of IDE channel 2 in place of the CD Burner.. Thoughts? teknik14 |

i'm running ACID in 44.100/24 bits. but it should work without problems on 16 bit too. as for the HD thing. i can definitely recommend that you move the audio drive to Master and set the burner to Slave. even if it doesn't solve your problem it will increase performance on your drive. |

In addition to what ATP said, using ASIO is a bit of a hit or miss affair. You have to find a happy medium as far as latency goes. Jacking the latency all the way up, for example, can sometimes actually be a bad idea. HTH, Iacobus |

Ok, so what are the advantages of running ASIO with potentially higher latency than what can be gotten with the CWD driver? I'm not trying to be facetious... but I'm very curious to know. If the CWD works just fine, why would I opt for ASIO? thx, teknik14 |
