Oh, my goodness.... Acid Pro is a tool you can use to do what you want, but it sounds to me like what you're asking for (forgive me if I've misunderstood you) is how to pick up some generic/fundamental skills. There are links mentioned in this forum to good instructional sites. The only one I can remember off the top of my head is Computer Music Magazine's site. Lots of good tutorials there on lots of things, tagged basic, medium, or advanced. If by "blending," you mean mixing, that's a huge subject. Until you get the basics down, don't get too worried about all the discussions about filtering, compression, EQ, FX automation, and all that. Read the Acid Pro manual for how to bring tracks into a project, paint them into the timeline, manipulate them, and mix them down. Your voice recording is going to be a "one-shot," by the way, unless you're after something weird. I'd help you with recording your rap lines into Acid if I could, but I don't do any recording. Everything I do is done with midi. If you don't find what you need in the manual, perhaps a kind soul here could give you enough information to get you started getting a little gratification with Acid. Good luck! Don't get too bummed out with all there is to learn! I've been working at music-making now for almost four years and I still feel pretty stupid about it. Learn what you need to learn as you need to learn it, and take it as an adventure...because it is. If you don't need to know how to do something, forget it for now. Keep things simple until you've mastered that part, then move on to another skill you want to master. I've had Acid a good long while now, and I've yet to touch the Chopper or FX automation. |

In addition to what Diane's said: There are some ACID KB articles that might help answer a couple of your questions. Whatever you do, start off slow. ACID Pro has a lot of features that aren't apparent on the surface (such as bus tracks). The Chopper will actually help you out for what you want to do. Be sure to pick up the full ACID Pro manual. There's a lot of info you could ever want in there. HTH, Iacobus |

sofo's on line tutorials are good. http://www.sonicfoundry.com/tutorials/default.asp also you can pick up a used copy of Sams teach yourself acid 3.0 in 24 hours at amazon. It won't have the 4.0 stuff like VSTi, 5.1. I think its a pretty good book, written by Rebholz & Bryant. Rebholz does the mediasite live intro to acid 4.o tutorial |
