Maybe I'm just missing something, but there doesn't seem to be a way to assign two different instances of a VSTi synth to two different midi channels in ACID. It appears that ACID takes the incoming note data from my keyboard controller and simply sends it to whatever softsynth is in the currently active window. That's lame. In SONAR you can assign the MIDI channel of all your softsynths, why not ACID? Unless this feature is hidden somewhere that I haven't found, it should be added in the next ACID update. |

I should explain that this is simply when using ACID as a host, not as a MIDI sequencer. |

ACID does not permit channel mapping or channel specific routing. The new default (ACID 4.0c/d) is to auto route your MIDI devices to the "focused" synth. All MIDI channels are routed to the focused synth - internal or external. To route incomming real-time MIDI to multiple devices, you must turn off auto input routing from the MIDI prefs page. This will permit you to assign multiple softsynths to the same MIDI input stream. The softsynth must then be capable of having its MIDI channel assigned. ACID will just send all MIDI channels to each synth. Perhaps is a future version of ACID (not an update) we will expand MIDI input filtering/routing and provide a mechanism to control incomming realtime MIDI data based on channels. In the meantime, if your softsynths permit you to assign the MIDI channel they "listen" to - just like hardware synths do - then you can selectively control which synths are triggered by which channel.
