Subject:Solved one problem, only to encounter another...

I finally knocked the crashing problem I had the other day, by adjusting latency on the MobilePre control panel.

But now, when i play back tracks I've recorded, I get random pops, especially on bass tracks. Any way to beat this? TIA.

Recording through the MobilePre via USB?

Like other USB 1.1 devices, be sure the MobilePre is on a USB port on its own USB controller all by itself. Having other USB devices on the same controller (like mice and other peripherals) can cause the problem you're experiencing.

Also, do not use a USB hub; connect the MobilePre directly to a USB port on your system.

I suspected as much, but didn't have a non-USB mouse to connect. Off to the puter store I go.

usually usb mice come with a little cheap usb-ps2 adapter. radioshack has them for a few bucks (assuming you like your mouse). or hit up some friends for one.
