SoFo a question on those ".sfk" files everywhere...

I seem to remember having problems with these little file leftovers from Sound Forge 4. After calling tech support they informed me that they would be taken care of in future upgrades and were. Now I find this same (kinda annoying thing) happening with Vegas 4.

I find that it fails to remove old leftover files (e.g: "capture 01.avi.sfk", or whatever) even if I dont' save the work. These are left behind everywhere. If I remove them it doesn't seem to hurt anything in Vegas4 or my original video files - nada!

So, is there a way to get rid of these (just like the same files were removed from Sound Forge 5, etc.)? They really get nasty after a while and I find myself almost removing the wrong files when trying to clean them out...

Thanks!

When you delete the AVI file, delete the matching AVI.SFK file. These simply hold a picture of your audio waveform. If you delete them, they will be recreated when that video clip is loaded again so it doesn't hurt anything to delete them.

They're really just there for performance reasons. You may notice that you don't "Build peaks" when they are around. Of course, if your machine is really fast, then you might not notice peak building at all.

Lucky you.

That said, if you really hate them just set up a schedule job to run at 5:00am every morning and search/delete all *.sfk files from your machine.

Thanks, and yes I understand that they serve a useful purpose...

That said, I just don't know why they couldn't make them disappear when one is through with them. SoFo took care of this similar annoyance in Sound Forge 5 and for good reason, they can lead to confusion when dealing with a lot of video and sound related files.

Not complaining really, just wondering if this is in the works sometime, as it has been fixed on their other software before...
