Subject:M-Audio/ACID playback problem.

First post here...

I've been using a registered version of ACID 4.0, and have had no problems outside of a latency issue when recording longer tracks. To try and beat that problem, I went out and bought an M-Audio MobilePre USB preamp.

I installed the drivers, lit up the MobilePre, no problem. I opened ACID and changed the 'audio' settings in 'preferences' to the MobilePre selection.

I can preview files, no problem. I drag a file into the window and play it back. Sounds great. But when I open one of the songs I've recorded previously, ACID starts running, gets nearly a measure into the song, and my machine reboots.

I'm using a PC - Intel Celeron 900 Mhz, 523 MB Ram, Win2000 Pro. Am I missing something here? Any help anyone can give me would be appreciated. I love this preamp, but love ACID, too. I want to use them both. Thanks.

the only thing i can suggest is to check if the sample rate/bit depth of the old project matches the sample rate and bit depth of your soundcard.

i've had trouble getting some older songs to work when i installed my Audiophile 2496. i had set the soundcard to 44.100/24 bits, but the project was 48.000/16 bits. i had to change the project settings to match my soundcard, and the problems were gone.

hth.
